A variety of applications need some way to display timeline or historical data. The following display shows the major events in the life of the French Impressionist painter Claude Monet. The data were adapted from the site of the Simile Project at MIT who have developed a very sophisticated timeline viewer in Javascript called Timeline. That software may be an excellent solution if you need to display this type of data. Ortho is a more general framework in which applications like this can be built. Timeline served as one of the inspirations for Ortho.
